Mac classic new cooling fan

Is there a possibility of installing a new quieter cooling fan inside a mac classic, without the risk of busting the power supply? Does it have to meet certain requirements?

Hubert19,

The prinary concern is adequate air flow. Do ou want the machine to stay looking stock or are you willing to mod it out? Apple went with multiple fans in the G5 to deal with heat issues. Kensington made an add-on fan that fit in the top handle. Quiet does not require more power from the PS. It requires more money from your wallet.

As Jeff indicated, any fan thatmeets basic specs will do.

Consider the following. If Apple builds a million units and they opt for a fan because it is $1 cheaper, they have saved $1,000,000. You would be willing to pay a Dollar more for better bearings but the markup from the manufacturer is far more than just that Dollar increase in the cost of that one part.

Better fans exist, most do not want to spend the money for them. With the G5, Apple went for better parts.
