After importing movie, audio working but clips just black

I had to erase my laptop and do a clean install, so did a Time Machine backup of everything to a Seagate drive.

I moved my Final Cut Pro X app and documents back onto my laptop after and imported all my clips/projects/events I'd been working on in Final Cut but every single video clip appears black (both in the events and projects) although the audio clips work fine?

Also, rather than having a preview of each clip on the lower part of the window, they are blue with a darker blue sort of tag shape on.

Does this mean they are broken somehow?

Is there anyway to fix them so I can view them like beforeand carry on with the editing?

This film means a lot to me 😟

If you open one of the compound clips, do the images display?

Can you select one of the clips in the event and use Shift-Cmd-R to take you to the Finder clip? Can you open that in the QT player? What does it say in the inspector about the media?

Oh boy. Those are just symlinks I think but without the symlink pointer. No video file can be 8KB. Was the original media on the system drive? Where exactly?

Ahh I don't know what symlinks are sorry.

Before I did the TimeLapse and erased everything the original video clips were in Photos and I think because I'd started editing they could be found in Users -> Clara -> Movies?

I'm not entirely sure, but then after I'd done the clean install I imported everything back into Photos and moved everything that was in the 'Movies' folder in my Seagate to the 'Movies' folder on my laptop.

If I import a clip from Photos, it works fine as it was working before I clean installed.

So all the individual clips aren't so much the problem because I could just re-import all of them (even though it would take ages). The real thing I'm worried about is that none of the clips my movie I'd spent so long editing are working 😟

Start with: where is the library located? With the application closed right-click on the library, and show package contents. Look for the folder with the name of the event that has your project. In the folder should be an Original Media folder. What's in there exactly?

Do NOT do anything to anything inside the library except select it and look at info for it.

Symlink is like an alias, a pointer to another file.

Note for future: do not import video into Photos for use in FCP.
