Aug 29, 2016 2:57 PM in response to Tapster1253by Klaus1,RIP QuickTime for Windows. Apple is "deprecating support" for the application, and will no longer patch security flaws in the software.
In this regard, QuickTime for Windows now joins Microsoft Windows XP and Oracle Java 6 as software that is no longer being updated to fix vulnerabilities, and subject to ever-increasing risk as more and more unpatched vulnerabilities are found affecting it.
So, Windows users should uninstall Quicktime. How to do so is detailed here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205771
Mac OS users should not do so as the security risks that have prompted this do not affect the Apple OS.

Sep 2, 2016 7:43 PM in response to Klaus1by Tapster1253,Klaus, Thank You for Attempting to answer my -54 error message, However, it didn't!
I deleted Quicktime several months ago after getting the message from Apple and, getting notified from Google that It is/Was unsafe to use anymore!! Oh, don't forget that Win 'Vista' is also on the list of Win programs NO longer supported by MS!! Shame, as I bought a Win 7 disk to upgrade my Backup laptop with XP a couple of months ago.. AARG!
The Quicktime question is to be used in my New iPhone 5S 16gb that is on Apple's soon to be No longer supported when the New iPhone '7' is released on Sept. 7th in San Francisco. Yes, the '6' series isn't working as well as Apple wanted! I'm glad to hear that the 32gb size will be back and the 16gb size is obsolete in the iPhone 7's (16gb's isn't very practical when a Few apps and couple hours of songs are installed. Not to mention Apple's own IOS 9.3.5!!
My other big complaint is with all the '6' (and now the '7' series) being sold online that people selling them want enough money (Some People) think they command a price of Actual GOLD!! I foolishly bought an iPhone 6 w/ 64gbs online for @$355. well, maybe an improvement and my iPhone 5S will be sold online Before it's Too Late~
