    Hi mxddie,

I understand you are not currently able to access the Messages app on your MacBook Air.

Since you seem to be getting two different error messages, one for your network connection and one for authenticating Messages, the first thing I would suggest is to reset your modem/router.   Try these steps:

    1) Quit the Messages app and the Safari app on your MacBook Air.

    2) Shut down the MacBook Air.

    3) If you have a router, disconnect the power cable to it.

    4) Disconnect the power to the modem (if you have a router/modem combo, there will only be one device.)

    5) Wait 30-45 seconds.

    6) Plug the power back into the modem first, then the router.

    7) Restart the computer.

    8) Launch Safari and see if you have an internet connection.   If you can't connect via Wi-Fi, try connecting an ethernet cable directly from the computer to your router / modem.

    9) If you can connect to the internet with Safari, launch the Messages app.

If the issue still persists after restarting your network devices, the resources below will help you troubleshoot further.
