Switching from CAN to USA

Hello!


I used to live in Canada, and than recently moved to the USA, during that time I bought a new iphone 6s (American phone) and stopped using my canadian iphone6, and have been using my canadian apple ID, when i try to change my apple ID to the USA country, it will not work.


ive tried my husbands credit card, my credit cards it simply will not change the store. Ive been trying to avoid having to create a new apple ID in order not to loose any of my canadian contacts, but seems there is no other solution? If you have one Id be happy to help, I called apple about it but the customer service rep didnt know how to do it either.
