Locked files?

Suddenly some of my audio files are locked and I can't do any destructive editing:

'volume or file is locked'. It is not the volume. So how do I unlock these files?

I click on the icon but nothing happens.

Open your Logic Project in the Finder and locate those audio files. If they are locked, then you should see a padlock icon on the file icon. Open the Get Info window for that file and deselect the Locked checkbox.

Thanks for your replies!

I have the project on a perfectly formatted Glyph disk. Then it started to behave and I moved the project to

internal drive. Same same. I checked the files in finder. None of them are locked. But inside Logic a few are. Result, I can't do any editing in sample editor. I even bounced and reimported some of the files, to no avail. Also, I made a 'Save a copy as'......I think it is this project only, but what the h...

Another symptom for having grayed out command in the File Editor is issues with file permission. Check the Get Info box again and see the the permission settings are (at the bottom of the window) for those files.

Also check on the external Glyph drive at the bottom of the get info window if the Ignore Ownership checkbox is enabled. This can cause problems with permissions when copying files back and forth.

Hi Again!

Problem remains and is spreading. I randomly get the 'volume or file is locked' message in many projects.

It happens suddenly out of the blue. I've done following to troubleshoot, to no avail.

1. Repair permissions (I'm on Yosemite)

2. Save project to another drive.

3. Open project on another computer (with El Capitan) and making a save as on that computer.

4. Bounce 'bad' files and import.

5. Enabling Read & Write for Me, staff and everyone on every file.

6 Disabling 'ignore ownership.........' on external drive.

'Functions' in waveeditor keep greyed out......

However, if I bounce a file and import it into a new project it works fine.

It also works if I simply drag the bad/ so called 'locked' files into a new project.

This all happened after 10.4.2 update.

Thanks!
