EarPods Volume Controls Won't Work

I have an iPod Shuffle 3rd Generation and i bought new EarPods and when i plugged them in my iPod the Play and Pause button works but the Volume+/- controls aren't working, i tried restoring the iPod didn't work, i tried the Volume Limit Controls it didn't work either idk what to do, i want to turn up the volume when i'm listening music but i can't 😟

The EarPods headphones are compatible with 4th gen shuffle, but not 3rd gen (as indicated by the product description for Compatibility).

The previous Apple headphones for iPhone should work properly with 3rd gen shuffle; you may find a vendor with old stock. There are also adapter products like this

that provide the control buttons, so you can use any standard headphones (including EarPods). There were several similar products (including from Belkin and Griffin), but this is the only one I could find "in stock" currently.
