Aug 26, 2016 7:00 PM in response to JWFALLANGby darren.s,Hey there JWFALLANG!
I'd certainly want my playlists and songs showing. Let's check things out.
If you have synced with more than one computer's iTunes (PC or Mac), then previous playlists and songs could go missing as the iPod will normally want to sync with one computer's library only. So if you have that first computer that the playlists were stored on, then you can sync with that machine to retrieve songs and playlists from there.
You can check out these articles about syncing (still works for other iPods besides iPod touch):
Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support
Move content from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Then this for consolidating iTunes content in one place:
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support
Best wishes.

Aug 27, 2016 8:49 AM in response to JWFALLANGby turingtest2,Apple haven't stopped supporting the iPod classic. Certain builds of Windows 10 may have issues communicating with the classic, but there can be other problems that affect individual users.
See Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for advice on backing up the library from a computer where it still exists. You can use the same tool to restore the library into an empty folder on the new computer and then keep the backup up to date going forward.
