Q: iMac is booting painfully slowly

Hi,

This is has been an issue for a while, but seems to have gotten marginally worse with El Capitan. After turning on and/or a restart, it's a good 6 or 8 minutes - no exaggeration - until my computer can start opening programs without huge lag. About 10 minutes until it's at full speed.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Any ideas, or is this normal? I've repaired disc permissions, emptied trash, and generally keep the machine running as clean as I can without being an expert.

Thanks.

iMac, iOS 9.3.5

Sorry, out of town for a bit. Thank you, sir, it's much improved now. Got rid of StartAgent, but HimmelBar (shortcut to applications in task bar) and Air Video Server (lets me send movies from my computer to my Apple TV) are both items I trust and use almost everyday, so I can't ditch those. Everything else, however, has resulted in a start up time of about 1:30 now, which might not be perfect, but is much much better. Thanks again.
