Q: Apple monitor won't turn on when plugged into PC
We have a bunch of large apple monitors in a lab here. There is no model number printed on them so all I can say is they're reasonably new (purchased within a year) ~20 inch monitors made by apple.
I have a PC and I'd like to use the monitor with my laptop. I have a MiniDVI connector which works fine with projectors, but when I plug in the monitor it just does nothing. There are no power buttons on the monitor so the monitor appears off. I've verified the power plug has power, but there's no indication on the monitor that it even has power. But that seems by design (albeit odd and frustrating design).
The cable I see from the monitor has 2 connectors, the MiniDVI connector, which I use, and another Mac-specific power adapter, which appears to be a convenience charging cable, but I'm not very familiar with Mac products.
Any thoughts on getting this monitor to work with a PC that supports MiniDVI?
Thanks,
David
