Q: Audio crackle fcp7,1 sequence, 1computer

This is very odd, and I don't know where to start looking.

In one sequence of a larger documerntary, the audio is breaking up and nearly inaudible.

This is true both when editing and after exporting to Quicktime, also after uploading to vimeo...

BUT only on my iMac and Macbook Pro (macbook to a lesser extent). On iPad and other people's computers, not a problem!

I'm trying to edit and set audio levels, but can't do it.

I can't even imagine why this is happening, no idea what to look at. If it were the computer this should be happening on all sequences, but it's not.

But it happens with the online file too...just on the one computer.

Here is a sample on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/180201603

Bail me out, please.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

I listend to your sample, it is thin, off-mic and slightly hissy - but I don't hear any break up, and it certainly is audible.

Is this not what you expect?

The problem only appears when you put the clip in the timeline? If you play the source clip without editing it to the sequence, does it sound correct (within FCP-7 and via an external player like QuickTime)?

If that clip you posted represents the "distorted" sound, it would be helpful if you could post the source scene for comparison  so we can hear what damage you are hearing.

Is there any audio in a format other than AIF 48 kHz 16 bit?
