What is wrong with my Apple TV?

I got my Apple TV about a month ago. I was very excited to finally have the ability to watch Netflix without having to buy a pricy smart TV.

However, it seems like I have only run into issues with this product. Every time I run into a problem it seems someone else has experienced something similar. I hope I have not wasted my money on this device.

If anyone could help me with trying to stop these issues all together I would really appreciate it.

APPLE TV (4TH GENERATION)

Here are my concerns:

1) The first time I used the Apple TV, when I shut it off the device turned off my television too. Now, when I turn off my Apple TV my TV stays on, so I have to manually turn it off. The Apple TV turns on my TV, but does not turn it off. Is there anyway to sync the two?

2) Sometimes when I turn on the Apple TV it does not immediately sync with the audio of the TV, so I have to turn off the TV and turn it back on. Any solutions?

3) Final complaint, sometimes when I turn on the Apple TV it doesn't connect with the internet, but I know it's not my wifi connection because all my other devices are still connected. I know I can restart the Apple TV, but having to do it a majority of the time is extremely frustrating. Any solutions?

Thank you for taking your time to help me out. It is greatly appreciated. Have a great day! 🙂

1) Check that Control TV and Receiver is enabled in ATV settings. Also be sure HDMI-CEC is enabled in your TV setup. It may be called ??-link or ??-net, every maker has their own name.

2) The audio is mixed in with the video on HDMI, so it should just work. Are your ATV audio output settings consistent with what the TV can handle?

3) Please describe your network setup. Is ATV connected to WiFi generated directly by the router, with no switches, wireless access points, or WiFi extenders? You might check that your WiFi is using WPA2-AES encryption, with no dual mode or TKIP. This will be in your router WiFi settings.
