Automatically mark emails manually flagged as spam as read

When I manually mark an email as spam (right click, mark as spam) without reading it, it gets moved to my spam folder, but it's still flagged as unread. So then I need to open my spam folder and mark it as read (right click, mark as read). It would seem logical to me that if I've manually flagged an email as spam it should also be automatically flagged as read. Has anybody figured out a method to do this? Rules don't apply to manual actions so a rule won't help.
