Q: Apple 23 HD Cinema Display issue

Ive trawled the internet for weeks but still not quite found an exact match for my display woes. Just wondered whether anyone could give me an easy answer?

Apple 23 HD Cinema Display plugged into a mac pro 2008.

Screen no longer switches on, no image

System Profiler CAN detect the display, but CANNOT detect the USB hub

White LED on the front no longer comes on by itself (no special diagnostic flash sequence as far as I can tell)

If I hold down the power button on the display for a few seconds the white LED shines for a moment and then goes out. I can repeat this over and over.

Cannot see any ghost image on the black screen.

If I have the display power switched off at the wall, then plug everything into my switched on Mac Pro, then switch the screen on at the wall, the screen comes on momentarily albeit slightly dimmer than usual, then goes off again within a few seconds.

Confirmed the video card on mac is not the issue as other monitor works fine in either displayport.

Confirmed the DVI to Displayport adapter it fine as have used several other working ones.

Confirmed power adapter is fine as working on other screens.

From all my readings re the above symptoms I THINK I can determine:

Its not the power adapter at fault.

Its not the inverter or backlight (otherwise a ghost image would be seen and besides it wouldn’t come on momentarily when i switched on at wall).

It could be the power regulator

It could be the logic board

However, I don’t want to go buying parts until i know the specific issue and can find someone who can actually do the switch of components for me.

If any one has any insights as to which is the most likely component at issue, based on what I've said, it would be very much appreciated.
