Q: Moving iTunes library from two hard drives to one

Hello all,

So right now my iTunes library is split between an external HD and my macbook's HD. How can I move this all to a new single external HD smoothly? I have changed the media folder location in the advanced preferences tab while both hard drives are plugged in and click yes when it asks if I want to copy the files over but nothing happens. Any advice?

Thanks

Evan

There is a command in iTunes menu bar

File -> Library -> Organize Library -> Consolidate files (checkbox)

This consolidates and organizes your iTunes media files, into the iTunes Media folder location designated in iTunes preferences Advanced tab.  On that same preferences tab, if they are not already, you may want to checkmark the TWO boxes for Keep iTunes Media folder organized AND Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library.  This ensures new media files used by iTunes are stored in and accessed from the designated iTunes Media folder going forward.
