Q: Best Way to "Move" OS X Server

I’m hoping someone has done something similar and can offer some suggestions.

I have an old Mac Pro (tower) and external RAID running 10.9.5 and OS X Server. Unfortunately, 10.9.5 is the maximum OS I can use with the LSI HBA RAID card. Drivers have been discontinued and they don’t work with 10.10 or 10.11.

Anyway, I want to “move” Server to a new Mac Pro using an ATTO ThunderLink adapter with the external RAID, while keeping Users, Groups, Shares, Services, Permissions, etc.

Options:

- Boot from a 10.11 FlashDrive and restore the 10.9.5 Time Machine backup to the new Mac Pro, then upgrade to 10.11 and the Server application.

- Upgrade to 10.11 on the old Mac Pro first (external RAID won’t be recognized), create a Time Machine backup, then restore that to the new Mac Pro.

- Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the old Mac Pro either before OS X is upgraded, or after.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
