Q: iCloud Photos - My Photo Stream - Aperture

For the past years I have been using My Photo Stream on both my iPhone and Aperture.

When iCloud Photos was released I did not choose to enable iCloud Photos as it was unclear to me what the impact of having both My Photo Stream and iCloud Photos enabled.

When I received notification from iCloud that my storage was almost full i decided to use for the 1st time to have a look at my online photos on icloud.com -> iCloud Photos.

Looking at my online content in  iCloud Photos I can see old photos that have long been moved from My Photo stream in Aperture to new projects.

Can anyone shed some light as to :

1-why do I see online iCloud Photos if iCloud Photos was never enabled on either my iPhone or Macbook?

2-do the online iCloud Photos display also My Photo Stream photos ?

3-how can I distinguish iCloud Photos from My Photo Stream on iCloud.com ?

4-if I delete online iCloud Photos will my Aperture photo be deleted also even if the original Aperture "Mmm YYYY Photo Stream" project was moved to a new Aperture project ?

5-it appears that many iCloud Photos are not on my iPhone anymore. What will happen then if I delete and online iCloud Photo ?

Follows my iPhone Settings (Settings->Photos & Camera)

+ Aperture iCloud configuration.

    1. If you have never enabled iCloud Photo Library, this should not happen.

    2. No

    3. Photo Stream is not viewable on your iCloud.com. They are stored elsewhere on iCloud. In other words, where you sign in to your iCloud account and view Photos... Photo Stream, is not "there"

I don't know what "if I delete and online iCloud Photo" means.

According to your screen shots, you do not have iCloud Photo Library enabled. Therefore you should not be able any photos at iCloud.com when you look at the Photos icon.

1-Oh well maybe then at some point I enabled iCloud Photo Library inadvertently and I forgot ??

Now that it is disabled I assume deleting iCloud.com photos will not delete anything on my iPhone or Aperture.

Is this is a correct assumption ?

    2-ok, thanks

    3-ok, thanks

"if I delete and online iCloud Photo" should read (typo) "if I delete online iCloud Photo"

which means deleting Photos from iCloud.com

The photos on iCloud.com are synced with photos on any device using both iCloud Photo Library and the same Apple ID.

If you remove them from either place, they are removed from the other place. That is the syncing part.

I do not know how Aperture and iCloud Photo Library are/were (if ever) connected.

    check these resources...
