Q: Music on my Hard Disk

I have music which I have transferred to my hard disk (LPs or cassettes!) but I cannot put them on iTunes (they are mp3 files) and so I cannot get them on to my iPhone.  The instructions say highlight and drag and drop but that just doesn't work.  I have even tried copying them to the iTunes folder but of course the iTunes Database doesn't recognise them.  Any ideas please?  Jean

mp3s from some sources are not seen as valid by iTunes.  Try a different encoder or try the utility MP3Scan&Repair (don't know if it still works under El Capitan).  There's other utilities which will also re-wrap mp3s such as MP3Trimmer.

The other thing to realize is that often they are added but you don't notice it because they don't have labels. Check the Recently Added playlist.

Hi sorry for delay in writing: I was travelling.

I have existing MP3s which I had downloaded and brought into iTunes on whatever version I had a year or two ago!

Anyway thanks for the suggestion I will try scan and repair altho those MP3 files work, it is the new ones that aren't recognised.  Jean
