Aug 30, 2016 8:23 AM in response to mousonby Limnos,★Helpfulmp3s from some sources are not seen as valid by iTunes. Try a different encoder or try the utility MP3Scan&Repair (don't know if it still works under El Capitan). There's other utilities which will also re-wrap mp3s such as MP3Trimmer.
The other thing to realize is that often they are added but you don't notice it because they don't have labels. Check the Recently Added playlist.

I have existing MP3s which I had downloaded and brought into iTunes on whatever version I had a year or two ago!
Anyway thanks for the suggestion I will try scan and repair altho those MP3 files work, it is the new ones that aren't recognised. Jean
