Q: I can't get Aperture to update for 10.9.5

I have tried repeatedly to get the App store to update my purchase of Aperture for my MacBook Pro. The Applications folder still has version 3.2.2 sitting in it with the "no entry" symbol over it. I have downloaded versions 3.3.2 and 3.4.5, but when I try to install either of them I am told,"The version of Aperture installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available".

Nothing shows at the App store, if I invoke Software Update it doesn't show Aperture as being updatable and yet I have another laptop running Yosemite that has Aperture installed and active.

Why is this?
