Q: Bind Windows to Open Directory with new OS X SERVER APP

Hi there,

 

anyone is testing the new os x server app released to dev? if yes, is it possible to bind the Windows to Open directory? does anyone else knows another method to accomplish this?

    Windows can only bind to either Active Directory or the old Windows NT Domain style system.

     

    Apple's server software does not support either of these and has not done so for many years. This dates back to when Apple stopped using SAMBA3 and switched to their own SMBx software.

     

    I do not see this changing. (Ever.)

     

    It is possible to get a Windows PC to login to a Mac file server and enter a valid user name and password but this does not require binding - which is as mentioned not possible.
