Mac complete freeze

My Mac suddenly started freezing completely, and now i can't get past entering my password, before it freeze and i cannot use mouse or keypad. Mouse is located in left upper corner and the screen i black.

It started les than 2 hours ago. I was using safari to do som work from home, when it suddenly froze after approximately 3 min. of use.

Then it gradually went from bad to worse, and i could not even get past entering my password after restart.

I tired starting in "safe mode" and from here i can use it fine. However when I do a restart i "normal mode", the freezing thing starts up again.

Futhermore I checked that i have lots of storage available ect.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem or what is wrong?

  • Note the time of the next freeze. After rebooting in Safe mode open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for log entries at the time of the freeze. Post suspicious ones here.
  • Look before the log entry that starts with BOOT_TIME since that is the first line of a bootup

I have no idea what is supisous so i just put it all in there.

The boottime = 27/08/16 16:09:19,000 bootlog[0]: BOOT_TIME 1472306959 0

I notet that the mac froze at 16.08 (my time) but the time stamps jump from

27/08/16 16:07:43,000 kernel[0]: Process launchd [1] disabling system-wide CPU Throttling

to

27/08/16 16:09:19,000 bootlog[0]: BOOT_TIME 1472306959 0

Does this help figure out what the problem is?

Aug 27, 2016 10:51 AM in response to lllaass

I did the following

1) boot to Recovery and repair startup disk

When that did not help I

2) reset SMC, ( I noticed that i had a lot of the problems that indicated that i needed to reset this - ie. keypad light missing and only working periodically)

However resetting SMC didn't help the problem at all (i tried it twice), so then i tried

3) reinstalled OS X

that didn't help either, so now i am at a complete loss.

Do you have any suggestion what to try next?

I find it really odd that the safe boot works perfectly, but when i start up normally i can't do anything without the Mac Freezing up instantly.

Thx for all you help so far.
