Q: Finder keeps freezing

Hi there

 

I am using a Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.5, 2.5 GHz and 16gb RAM

 

My finder does not respond well at all. When I force quit and re launch I may get 20-30 seconds of it responding then back to same again.

 

The most recent things I have done are added lots of music loops and samples to my music folder and video files to my desktop filmed using a DSLR. I still have over 90gb memory left so doubt that would be the problem.

 

So far the steps I have used are

 

Deleted the plist file

Deleted recent installed software (Team viewer)

    On a hunch, do you have ANY antivirus software installed, and/or uTorrent?  If so, remove them both, reboot, and reassess slowness.

    Deleted Sophos Anti Virus, restarted Mac but problem still remains :-(

    Did you just delete the Sophos app or did your uninstall it correctly and fully:

    Simply deleting the app does not uninstall it.

    Try removing Memory Clean and Trusteer and check for improvement.

     

    Also, Teamviewer has some background processes which have failed. If you no longer use it, uninstall it. If you do, you should still uninstall it but then you can reinstall a fresh copy.

    I have deleted Teamviewer but yes noticed the background processes... How do i unistall?

    Note that if you don't have the app, you may actually have to reinstall it, in order to then complete uninstall it.
