When composing a new message in Mail, a very useful item for indenting or outdenting a paragraph used to be in the toolbar. It has disappeared, and I cannot find it in View > Customize Toolbar. Please can someone tell me how to get it back?

I now am able to reply to myself. It never occurred to me to click 'A (Format)' in the toolbar! The indent/outdent link, and a lot of other things that I hadn't realized I was missing when I posted this question (such as text size and font) reappeared as soon as I clicked 'A'.
I am afraid I have not used Mountain Lion for a long time, PinkSlip, having upgraded my operating system and now using High Sierra. Actually I still have Mountain Lion on a 'guest machine' in Parallels Desktop, but I do not need to invoke it in order to answer your question, for my remark about clicking 'A' applies equally to my present system.
I attach two screen-shots of the top of an email, ready to be written. Each of them shows 'A' in the fourth box near the top on the right. The first is of a situation where several functions are not shown, including Indent/Outdent. The second shows what has happened after I clicked 'A'; Indent/Outdent has appeared.

I understand that going to Format in the Menu bar shows the option of Indent or Outdent; but I need to know why it disappeared from my Mail options in the Compose setting, why it's not in my Mail toolbar anymore, and how to get it back...
I am happy you found the solution, as mine suddenly disappeared. However, I don't quite understand your answer: what do you mean "click A in Format"? Please explain!
