Q: Anyone put together a comprehensive list of missing features?

Any current list of missing features? After FINALLY updating to version 5 from Pages 09 I am finding that most of my projects can be done quite nicely in version 5. Knowing the missing features allows me to open 09 when needed. Here are the features I have found missing and that effect my work:

1. Linked text boxes. Amazing this has never been fixed. How do you do a newsletter without them?
2. Advanced search and replace options. I often put tabs in place of text in 09. Bummer.
3. Font activation of an inactive font with Font Explorer does not work. Works beautifully in 09.
4. Dynamic toolbars. The inspector window changes dynamically. Not as good as the toolbar changes. Really slows me down to have to use the inspector areas for EVERYTHING.
5. Mail merge. Will probably have to keep 09 around until it croaks for this.

Some brilliant additions to the new Pages:
1. Improved speed

2. Sharing works
3. Photo integration works.
4. Font Glyphs are rendered better than 09 ever achieved.
5. Alignment guides are improved.

6. Bye bye floating inspector. I don't miss it. The new inspectors are nice.

7. I like the way Paragraph styles and Character styles are done now.
8. Switching between layout and word processing with one click? Wow? No program on the market can pull this off.
9. Shapes are nicer.
10. Masks are handled better.

May we please have examples of exactly how Pages '09 and Pages 5.6.2's font rendering differs, complete with specific fonts and screen grabs?

The only issue I know of is with Right to Left scripts.

Are people having problems with Page 5 corruption? I haven't been on the board for awhile. So far no issues for me. I am opening files carefully in that I have saved backups of all of them so little would be lost if a file fails. I still want some time in 5 and see if it is the monster everyone suggests.

I have El Capitan and plan on upgrading to Sierra as soon as my other apps are compatible. If Pages 09 goes away then I will switch to the new version so I have access to my files or start working in another program. Waiting for Affinity Publisher to make its debut.

Pages 5. The main font is palatino. When I select the first letter and change the font to Illusias, an OTF font with extra glyphs and characters I get this:
    Screen Shot 1.jpg

In Pages 4, doing the same procedure I get this. Not even the same letter! There are several fonts where it reacts the same, choosing characters that I did not ask for or putting in a glyph I did not ask for. Pages 5 does what is expected.

    Another example: (Pages 5)

Neither of them handle upward and downward glyphs or swirls at the beginning of text boxes very well. You have to enlarge the textbox or add spaces to see the glyph.  The best program so far (without having to resort to the expensive InDesign) was the open source Scribus. Of course it is clunkier than Pages.
