No, apple doesn't do much repair, certainly not board level repair.

apple devices are made to last indefinitely, but that vision doesn't always translate into reality.

I've had my 6 plus for 21 months and the touch stopped working about 7 weeks ago. it's so frustrating. i'm on the phone with apple support now. they said that it appears to be a manufacturer defect....but i'm on hold to see what they are going to do for me as far as repair options.

Apple has not stated their position on this matter, but if your device is under warranty it can be brought to an Apple store for an evaluation to see if damage outside the warranty caused the issue under Apples discretion. If Apple deems the damage was caused by misuse they will void your eligibility, otherwise they may fix it.

Use the link at the bottom of this page to contact Apple.

I don't know if it's a correlation but after upgrade to 9.3.5, the touch on my iPhone 6 plus does not work 80% of the time. I also see a grey flicker on the top of my screen. Took it to the apple store, called Apple Care, no resolution. They checked out device, no "bending" issues, no battery issues. The "great" deal offered to me was to replace the unit for $329 .

Device is basically unusable at this point.

Unfortunately, when any issue has been subjected to litigation the parties will cease to comment or take any action, as anything they say or do can be used as evidence in court. So the fact that a suit has been filed eliminates any chance of Apple saying or doing anything about it until it is adjudicated. If there's blame, it is with the people who filed the suit.

I have the same thing happening....until today when I saw an article about touch disease I thought it was something else, but the phone has the exact same symptoms...gray band across the top that sometimes comes half way down the screen!  I have to give it a little pressure or twist a bit for the screen to work.  I´m trying to get this solved with my insurance but they´re not being very helpful.  Looks like I´ll have to take it in to have it looked at as a warranty call...geez

If you bend and twist your phone and an Apple technician sees evidence of that that they can void your warranty due to misuse.

I realize that...but it´s the only way to get the screen to respond.  Not giving it a hard bend..just a little pressure and it works again...most of the time.  It´s progressively getting worse.

and by "fix" you mean replace your phone with a refurbed unit--many of which exhibit the same exact fault due to the design flaw

Since you know so much about this issue, how many of the 230 million iPhone 6 series phones sold actually have this problem?

Apple got rid of error 53 in a hurry after the class action suit was filed.

Part of me is a bit impressed that you have found such a creative way to rationalize a company selling phones without addressing a known defect and then remaining silent for months after the defect declared itself by blaming the consumer victims here. Masterful!
