Aug 28, 2016 9:38 PM in response to Doughelpby LarryHN,Aperture actually does detects faces
Probably "Not Like Goolgle Photos does"
And Google Photos probably does not detect faces liike Aperture does but then how GooGle does things is not a subject for this forum in any way
What exactly are you trying to find out that the users here could help you with?

Aug 29, 2016 6:46 AM in response to Doughelpby léonie,Aperture is scanning your photos for patterns that can be faces, and is showing these detected faces in a strip of unnamed faces. Aperture will compare the unnamed faces to known faces you assigned a name to and if it finds a match it will suggest the name and you can confirm the match.
You can disable the face detection if you want to; is disabled by default (Aperture > Preferences > General: Enable Faces)
