Target Disk Mode– MacBook does not mount in iMac desktop
I have a 2015 MacBook and a USB-A-USB-C cable marked "SS". In November 2015 I could start my MacBook in TDM and connect it to my 2013 iMac and see it mount on the desktop. I could then synchronise some of the folders (using Folders Synchroniser) and have up-to-date information on my MacBook. Both computers are running El Capitan.
But about 3 months ago this system stopped working. My MacBook's mounting on the iMac desktop became sporadic and now never happens. I've tried different cables, connected to different USB ports (the back of the iMac, the keyboard of the iMac and a Lightning to USB dock (Belkin)), but no joy.
Has the firmware of either computer been updated? Has El Capitan stopped this very useful feature from working?
Any ideas, anyone?
