Q: motion 5 crashes trying to using top camera view

OS 10.11.6 - 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 - 27inch late 2013 iMac - 8 Gigs ram - NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M -  VRAM (Total): 1024 MB

While using a motion instructional program on using 3D camera in motion form Ripple Training after opening the motion file and playing the file motion crashes, after opening the file again I'm able to scroll around and inspect layers but every time I try to place the camera view in the top position motion crashes.

Can some one please help think you.

Ripple training thinks my system is not right for 3D camera. I have been using and programing the camera with out problems until now.

Thanks,

Jeff

my specs are way below yours, and switching cam angles is no prob.

Have you tried with a simple, reduced project?

8GB Ram looks a bit too small for me .... only advantage here, I have 16 ...

What's your version of Motion you are running, you give all the information but that.  Is Motion up to date(5.2.3)? Is this a project you build or load and then work with? If it's a provided file, have you tried re-downloading it in case the original got corrupted at some point during transfer?  Does this happen with any project if you try to place the view to top, or just this training project?

3D Camera's have been in Motion for a long time now, since Motion 3, so your system should be able to handle them.  You may want to provide more details on the specific project or other elements in the scene, it's probably some combination of things causing the crash.  If nothing else, you could try posting the crash log here to the forums, occasionally people can spot potential issues from the logs.

But only post the section of the log that indicates the thread that crashed and the thread itself. Posting the many hundreds of extraneous code doesn't help.

If the top camera view has worked before, something in your system or in your project has changed; it's not like the application is damaged. But that's possible. You can discard it and download it again by signing into the App Store with the same credentials with you purchased it originally.

Before you delete the application, though, you can always try resetting the app by discarding the prefs file.
