Q: Trying to view songs on ipod and in library

Hi,

This has probably been asked, but I can't seem to find an answer.

I want to add songs to my ipod but don't want to keep going back and forth to see if a song is already on there. Is there a way to view my library in one window and my ipod in another, then drag and drop tunes onto my ipod?

Thanks.

iPod nano, iOS 9.3.5

Not in current iTunes, although iTunes from the "old days" could show multiple windows.  However, you can show songs on the iPod and any library song list at the same time in the same iTunes window.  First, show your iPod's song list in iTunes window.  Near upper right corner, click Edit Playlist button.  A sidebar appears along right side of window, showing iPod's song list (which can be sorted as desired).  The main part of window shows your main library song list; use left sidebar to go to any song list.  Drag and drop songs from library song list to iPod's song list.

Another approach is to sync your device with a selected playlist in iTunes, e.g. iPod Tracks, and create a second smart playlist that contains everything that is in Music, but not iPod Tracks. You can then scan through this new list looking for things to add. When you're ready sync the device to update it.
