Aug 29, 2016 8:00 AM in response to Murs01by Stuart423,Your Apple ID should be a complete e-mail address. The 'fred012' name is only part of your Apple ID. It would need to be 'fred012@icloud.com' or maybe 'fred012@gmail.com' or something like that.

Sep 1, 2016 8:44 AM in response to Stuart423by Murs01,Thank you for your response and I understand what you are saying, but it does not help in my situation.
It appears that my computer contains a number of songs that were purchased in the iTunes store 10 years ago with a different user ID than the one I currently use.
The user IDs at that time seem to have NOT been email addresses.
When I try to have the password reset, it does not recognize the old ID precisely because it is not an email address.
Trying to see if there is any alternative to retrieve these songs and make them usable.

However, in this situation, you would do well to speak with an iTunes Advisor - they would be able to view your account history and verify the previous purchases. I cannot speak to what they might do, but it would be worth it to try to recover some of the music. You can reach iTunes at 1-800-MY-APPLE.
