All you can really do is update apps as/when possible. Don't install apps from app-developers you don't recognise without the appropriate research beforehand. Ensure you're using a strong password and strong pin for your phone and you should be good.

Be careful.
Be cynical.
Trust nobody.
Use your common sense.
If an "offer" seems to good to be true, it likely is.
