Please help. My Mac has been infected/taken over by a worm or virus.... And as I try to fix the problem, the computer is making changes at the root level and hijacking every system and programming it purposely to stop me from fixing the issue.from

i tried to secure my Mac book pro 10.6.8 as best I could. But during that process it was as if a virus sensed or launched itself and either brought down the whole system or began changing files at the root level, as if to disguise itself and fool the virus clamxav search I am running. I am concurrently running activity monitor and there are a ton of things running in the background. When I check what they are doing they are all changing at the permissions level. They all seem to be related to fooling clamxav.

Im at a loss and am freaking out.

if there is any one out there that may be able to help, please reach out. I'm stuck. And really scared

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Etrecheck – System Information

Can you give us some feedback please on this situation?

You have not respond by posting your EtreCheck output and the reason nobody else has answered is that what you have described is apparently not anything that any of us have ever heard of before, and certainly not the work of any known malware, so if this is something new that is attacking Snow Leopard users, then it's important to get to the bottom of it.
