copy past photo from Photos to desk and lost of EXIF data

Mac Pro OS X El Capitan vers 10.11.6 and Photos Version 1.5 (370.42.0)

Issue : when i do a copy paste of a photo from Photos to my mac desk, the copy is done but i loose the information of the photo (EXIF data) and mainly the date the photo was taken. I need this date to filter all my photos and then to rename all them directly on Finder.

Thanks for your advice

The export dialog has two options:

  1. File > Export > Export unmodified Original
  2. File > Export > Export ... photos.

With the first option you will export the original photos, just as you imported them, with no edits and changed metadata applied. Enable "Export IPTC as XMP" to create a sidecar fie with your updated metadata. Some applications can read this file.

With the second option you will export the edited version. But to include your metadata with the photos and to export a full size image you have to click the downarrow to the right of "Photo Kind" to reveal all advanced options. Otherwise you may be exporting your photos in a reduced quality without metadata.
