Iphone 5/s: Why isn't iOS iMovie free?

while it is installed on my computer, I am planning on traveling soon and would like to use iMovie on my phone for some editing. Garageband, a previously installed app, is avalbile for re-download and yet iMovie is $7.99 AuD in spite of being touted as free earlier this year.

Extra details:

-Iphone purhcased in 2015

-Macbook Pro purchased 2016

-both running up to date software

iMovie is only free on iOS devices if you bought one New after September 1st 2013.

Having bought iMovie on a Mac does not in any way entitle you to the iOS version for Free.

If you have not bought iMovie on an iOS device, or have not bought a new iOS device since September 1st 2013 iMovie is not Free.
