Can I use a Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter to connect my PowerBook to my MacBook Pro?
I want to use my PowerBook as a hard drive for my MacBook Pro. Can I use an Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter to connect the two?

Yes, if they have the correct ports.

You cannot CREATE a ThunderBolt port on a computer that did not leave the factory with a ThunderBolt port. The adapter creates a FireWire for a computer that has a ThunderBolt port. It does not do the reverse.
Thanks. My MacBook has two Thunderbolt ports but no Firewire ports. My PowerBook G4 has a two firewire ports 800 and 400). If I buy a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter for the MacBook and connect with a Firewire cable from the adapter to the PowerBook Firewire 800 port then if I boot up the PowerBook in Disk Image mode (I think that is the term) I should be able to read on the MacBook a disk that I load onto the PowerBook. Is that right? I just want to be sure before I go a spend the money on the adapter and cable.
Thanks.
If you're trying to access the PowerBook G4's internal hard drive, use Target Disk mode.

Thanks very much. I see I don't need to use Target disk mode to get to the G4 optical drive but I still need a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter and cable. Thanks again.
