See the last two paragraphs of Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support.
Apparently having got your 6 digit passcode you are supposed to sign in to your Apple ID using with User ID = <YourAppleID> and Password = <YourAppleIDPassword><TheSixDigits>.
I haven't personally tested that method, but the other option is to temporarily disable two-factor authentication.
