can't sync properly to my iPhone or iPad

so far no difficulty syncing from my MAC TO MY IPAD or IPhone However when I now try e.g. music, the screen that lets you sync all or by artist/album etc isn't showing So I can't control my storage on either by deleting and this means they are nearly full with no room for new music/system updates etc Any help appreciated Thanks, Mike
