Q: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting every hour on El Capitan
Hi guys,
I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) running El Capitan, all updates installed (10.11.6 (15G31)).
Since I upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan the WiFi kept disconnecting randomly however, for almost 2 months it keeps doing this every hour and it fails to reconnect unless I basically place the laptop on the router.
The 1 hour period is exactly the Lease Time so this looks to me like the network card can't get the new IPs. Moreover, the Renew DHCP Lease option does not help and every time I try to connect I get an error: "The Wi-Fi network '[WiFi_NETWORK_NAME]' could not be joined".
Switching to a manually configured IP address does the trick however I need to be able to connect using an automatic address.
When these problems first occurred it was enough to turn off and then on the Wi-Fi. Then it became harder to get it connect this way so I start deleting the Wi-Fi preferences and start clean but unfortunately this is no longer working.
So now I have to move closer to the router to get connected after I get disconnected and it's very annoying since I am 4 meter away from the router and in my office there are other MacBook Pros computers running El Capitan, as well as Windows 7 / 10 and Linux computers that have no issue. And since it works if I more closer to the router or if I set it to a static IP, I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Any ideas?
