Q: Sim Card not supported
I purchased a used iPhone 5 off Ebay originally from Verizon. It's stuck on the setup screen and refuses to recognize even the original sim card. My understanding is Verizon phones should not even need to unlocked. So what's the problem, is there a way to get past the setup screen? This is the 3rd used iPhone I've purchased the previous 2 were both Verizon as well and they were easily moved to a different network. Is there something wrong with this phone?

You're correct. Verizon phones are sold unlocked. However, if the phone isn't even recognizing the original SIM, I'd guess there's a hardware problem with the phone. Unless you can get the phone to recognize the SIM, you're not going to be able to activate it.
