.mp3 Playlists

I have a need to burn .mp3 CDs to play in the car.

The majority of my music library has been ripped from Audio CDs in MPEG format. I have subscribed to iTunes Match and each track is in my library in both the matched AAC and the original MPEG formats.

When I create a playlist it appears that the AAC format track is selected which then makes it impossible to burn the Playlist to a CD in the .mp3 format. I have read about creating .mp3s from AACs in Playlists but I do not want even more duplication in my library. Neither do I want to do a Global delete of the downloads as I also have a good number of gifts downloaded from iTunes Store (but I do not need these burned to CDs)

Is it possible to set up the Playlists to point to the .mp3 formatted tracks only ?

Thanks.
