I have enabled merge music between pc and macbook, but want to stop the process. I have already deselected icloud library in preferences and removed the pc as a device in icloud from my ipad, but my pc seems to continue uploading the 30 GB of music. Any advice?

This is ridiculous. Apple must simplify the process of merging using hybrid methods of leaving songs you have on your PC/MAC where it is while managing Apples Music downloads efficiently.
Ideally settings to backup all Music to cloud.
Only Apple Music.
Or make this super efficient by backing up only the MUSIC ID of all apple music into cloud so you dont eat into the space.
Looks like the designers of such features are focused on increasing revenue for the company via icloud strorage usgae than making things seemless.
In Short :
All Music : Will backup all your music and apple music to cloud.
Local only : Will backup all your local music + ID of songs from your apple Music subscription you have downloaded.
None : Dont backup anything - Allow users to download apple music on their PC and allow sync to other devices.
