Q: iPad and iPhone will not accept an email password.

AAfter spending over five hours on the phone with Apple support and having verified that my password is correct one

of my email accounts still rejects the password.  Both have verified that it is correct.  Any suggestions?.  This issue started after the last three iOS updates.

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.5, And iPhone 6s

Do you mean that the password was verified by the email provider? Have you tried deleting the email account and adding it back again?

YYes the password was verified by the email provider and Apple Support and on both devices.  Both devices were completely and all the devices were set up again as though they were new.  Nothing has helped.

I don't know if this will help either, but it's worth a look, if you haven't already tried it.

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.

Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

TThanks for your suggestion however there is no place to do your suggested steps as Apple populates that and I do not even see it.

Have you tried turning off the primary server, select another server and enter your credentials in there?
