iPhone 6 Touch disease

A few months ago, my wife started complaining her iphone 6 touch doesn't work sometimes. I thought she was doing something wrong and advised to restore her phone. After trying everything like resetting, restoring and etc.., none of them worked. It definitely seems touch disease. We've had all iphones from the very first generation, and never been frustrated like this. Hope Apple will do something. Otherwise they sure will lose many customers by this.

What's strange about the diagnosis is that after having the dreaded flickering gray screen and declining touch ability, a full restore of my iphone 6 brought it back again. If this were a hardware issue or broken chipset, why would it start working again? My touch disease correlated precisely with a new sim card and carrier. I hope someone can get to the bottom of this, I was really happy with my phone before this.

It seems like the iPhone is not always recognizing the fingerprint - Here are ways to optimize detection.

1. Keep multiple prints for every finger. For example, 3 copies of the thumb.

2. Fingerprints can change slightly from scratches, cuts etc. Update your fingerprints regularly.

3. Dirty/sweaty hands can interfere with the detection. Even a small fiber from your clothes can cause problems.

Hope this helps.

Hi

If your wife has not yet done so, it may help to back up her iPhone (she may wish to encrypt the backup, if using iTunes), restore it to factory settings (with a fresh copy of iOS) and test whether the issue persists before restoring from backup:

The steps here may also help:

If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support

If the issue persists - or if she prefers to skip straight to this step - I suggest that she contacts Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or makes a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having her iPhone checked and, if recommended by Apple, serviced (potentially via chargeable repair service):
