Q: How can I make iTunes stop displaying "can't locate" music message before streaming from my iCloud music library
I recently imported my entire music library onto a new Macbook Pro. This is my work laptop, and I don't want to physically store all my music on this hard drive. Therefore, I unchecked the "Copy files into iTunes media folder when adding to library" option in the preferences before importing my music library. I signed into iTunes using my Apple ID, and backed up the entire library to iCloud (which I hadn't previously done). So now I have several thousand songs successfully uploaded to my iCloud music library, and all should be right with the world.
But as I'm trying to play back songs, every song I double click brings up the message "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" However, when I click "Cancel," the song plays anyway (I assume it begins streaming from my iCloud music library). So what gives? I'm well aware it can't find the original file. That's by design. I am trying to stream the music from my iCloud library, similarly to how Apple Music is streamed, rather than having it stored on the hard drive. Is there a way to just have iTunes automatically stream a song from my iCloud music library if it can't find the original file, without displaying the error message?
PLEASE HELP!!
