Q: GPS terrible since moving to new carrier

Hello,

 

I have moved from AT&T to tmobile.

 

I had a iphone 6 with at&t and now have a iphone6s

 

Since moving all my apps that rely on GPS are almost unusable. Specifically maps and my biking app that tracks my ride.

 

I thought the GPS was not carrier specific. Is that not the case?

    The iPhone uses Assisted GPS, meaning part of the location is derived from cell tower proximity.

    I tried T-Mobile years ago. They were terrible. Coverage was awful. I wouldn't be surprised if almost all of this can be blamed to T-Mobile and their towers. They may have improved somewhat since I used them, but this is something you'll have to take up with them.
