Photos - Slide show transitions become jerky after export

Photos slide show transitions become jerky after exporting to iTunes. Sliding Panels, Classic, etc. all play normally in the Photo Slideshow app, but become "sticky" or "jerky" following export.

I don't recall this problem with iPhoto and/or earlier IOS versions - even when movies were imbedded. Is this a known issue?

How can this be fixed?

How big is the slideshow (# of slides) and what theme are you using?

What size did you export the slideshow as?

How much free space do you have on your boot drive?

Download and run Etrecheck. Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here (and recommended by Apple Support personnel) in the ASC to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

# of slides = 186 photos (jpeg)

Themes: Sliding Panels and Classic - same symptoms with each (jerky transitions)

Attempted export in both 1080p and 720p.

Sorry -- How do I find free space on my boot drive ?

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try playing the original m4v file there. Do you get the same issues?

Next try the same slideshow with the default Classic theme, export at the same size and see if it experiences the same issues when played.

As another test log into another user account on your Mac and try playing your original exported slideshow. Do you get the same problems there?

Thank you for the assistance, OT --

Booted into Safe Mode.

Original m4v file would not open -- the "loading" circle with the "pause" button in the center remained active for 20+ minutes with no result.

Also in Safe Mode, I opened Photos and attempted to Export the Slide Show project. Photo crashed on two separate attempts.

Returning to Normal Mode, the m4V file opens but the "jerky" transitions remain using the Classic theme and Sliding Panels music.

Thanks.

The OS X Combo update did provide a noticeable improvement -- however, the transitions between slides in the exported .m4v video are still not as smooth as the transitions in Photo.

Hoping to mask the jerkiness and hesitations of the transitions, I tried increasing the speed selection for the transitions in the Photo slide show prior to exporting. Didn't help much, if at all.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

On the advice of another Mac-savvy friend, the Activity Monitor was examined during the Export process.

My Activity Monitor shows plenty of workspace while the Photos Export Slideshow is running:

User uploaded file

(Trying for the least complex transition) the Dissolve slide transition selection within the Classic theme continued to present hesitations/snags/jerkiness in the exported m4v version.

As I noted at the top of the thread, this malady did not appear when using iPhoto and earlier OS software - even when embedding video as well as jpegs in the slideshows.

Could the current jerky slide transitions indicate a compatibility issue between Photos and OS X El Capitan?
