problem connecting to wifi when turning macbook pro on

I just recently started having a problem with my Macbook Pro, whenever I close the screen and my Macbook goes to sleep (or sometimes even after 3 minutes) and I open it back up it has a problem reconnecting to wifi. I have to turn my wifi off, then turn it back on for it to finally connect, sometimes having to do this two or three times to finally connect. This problem just recently started happening and I do not have wifi issues with my other devices. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
