Q: how to chargeup a new iphone

i have brought to new iphone6s plus but my friends were advising me to put 8hours charge but unfortunately, i have not done that and i used the new phone over the night and forgot to put charge then next day morning i plugged into charge at that time charge was 40%. however, i just put into charge till it reaches 100% and now my phone charge is draining like within 4hours it got reduced to 14% is it okay or is there any problem.
