I have the AE setup as "Extend using Ethernet"

But, if you check the current settings in AirPort Utility, you will see that there is no setting for "Extend using Ethernet" under the settings for Network Mode. The correct setting is "Create a wireless network".  If you check the settings and see that they are currently set to "Extend a wireless network", that is the wrong setting.

Part of your post above appears to have been cut off.  Please add more details if they are supposed to be there.

Then, report on your findings and we will continue.

    Hi Bob-

You had helped me out before setting this up..

When I have devices plugged into the AE, I get a great internet connection. There is just now wifi available in the room.

I set the wifi settings through Airport Utility for the AE to have the same SSID, Security Settings (WPA), and Password thinking that would do it. All lights are green but no wifi.

Do I need to configure it to "Create a Wireless Network". I think that is what I have it set to but not 100%. Unfortunatly I'm not in front of the unit at this time.

Unfortunately, Apple does not make it easy for you.

"Extend using Ethernet" appears in the setup "wizard" when you are setting up the Express, or another AirPort......but Apple does not ever tell you that the actual setting that is being applied is "Create a wireless network".

If you use the setup "wizard", you don't have to worry about the correct settings....they will be applied to the AirPort Express automatically.

If you are trying to set up the Express manually using AirPort Utility, then the correct settings under the Wireless tab would be.....

    "Create a wireless network"

Same wireless network name as the main router

Same wireless security as the main router

Same password as the main router

"Off (Bridge Mode)" under the Network tab

My recommendation would be to set up the Express again and use the setup "wizard".  Post back when you are ready to do that and we'll provide some additional tips at that time.

Not sure what you mean by "no WiFi".  Your devices will only "see" one wireless network, not two.

Ah! Ok. Sounds good. I'll try this evening when I get home and report back.

By "No Wifi" I mean my phone or computer will not see any wifi options upstairs where the AE is.

However, I do get wifi downstairs.

    Thanks again for the help.

Well....I did as you suggested Bob. I went into airport utility and "Forgot" the device. Setup as I did the first time

and Bam! She is up and running perfectly! I am currently online upstairs and the signal is good and strong.

Thanks again for all the help Bob..you helped save some small children from learning some new words! :-)
