wifi problem

Hello,

I have a weird problem i guess. I upgraded to Fiber optics and then came a new router which works fine all the other devices ( multiple laptops and phones ) but my iphone has problem. ( iphone 5 , ios 9.2 ) Now here's the thing, i connect to my router and if i my phone is locked/in sleep mode for more than 2 minutes, the wi-fi drops. And no notifications nothing unless i at least wake it up and it takes sometime more than usual. I called up my ISP and they did a hard reset on the router and this fixed the issue. I was still confused to as what happened there. Then after a few days my net was down and i changed the wifi password that time and somehow ended up with the modem being reset by customer care and my earlier problem is back on and i have no idea to fix it. I tried the hard reset fix 2-3 times but the problem persists. I know its not an iphone issue. iPhone has its own special settings that are need to be met but i dont know what to change in my routers settings. Please help.

Thanks

iPhone 5, iOS 9.2

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Suggest starting from the top and working down. One of them may help.

1) Restart you device.

2) Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

3) Reboot Router/Modem: Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for the 2.4 band.

4) Change to Google's DNS: Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.

6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes. Try restoring as New first and testing it. If ok try restoring the backup (the backup could be corrupted).

9) Go to an Apple store for hardware evaluation. The Wi-Fi chip or the antenna could be defective.

1) Did that already.

2) Did that already and quite a few times but it doesn't really matter. The router was reset and then i had this issue again.

3) No 5GHz in this router and and I tried channels 1, 6, 9 ,11.

4) Tried a couple of others too.

5) Nope, this feature isn't there.

6) Yup all of them are working fine, even mine was after the first reset. but after the second reset its back again.

7) Yeah, i tried at my friend's house and it worked fine. And he has the same router, even got the same package couple of days before me.

8) I have tried this too. As i said, it's not an iPhone issue. It's somewhat the special requirements of settings on iphone.

9) It works on every next router, even the previous DSL router at my home. Its not a hardware issue.

Thanks for responding quickly ! 🙂
